ABOUT US
A Different Way Forward for Young People Aged 15 to 19
Fast Forward School is an independent school in Hull for young people aged 15 to 19 who need a more personalised, supportive and practical approach to education.
The school is designed for learners who may have found traditional education difficult and who benefit from a setting that understands their individual strengths, needs and future goals. At Fast Forward, education is built around the young person, helping each learner grow in confidence, develop important life skills and work towards a positive future.
EMPOWERING EVERY LEARNER
A School That Sees the Individual
Every young person is different. That is why Fast Forward takes the time to understand each learner as an individual.
The school supports young people with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, and other special educational needs and disabilities. Many learners join Fast Forward after experiencing challenges in previous settings, so creating a safe, calm and respectful environment is a key part of the school’s approach.
By building strong relationships and removing barriers to learning, Fast Forward helps young people re-engage with education in a way that feels meaningful, achievable and supportive.
Our Vision
Fast Forward believes that every learner, regardless of background, diagnosis or previous educational experience, deserves the opportunity to succeed.
The school’s vision is to be a place where young people are not only supported, but valued and encouraged to move forward with confidence. Fast Forward aims to help learners achieve recognised qualifications, develop self-belief and prepare for the next stage of life, whether that is further education, training or employment.
OUR APPROACH
Fast Forward offers a flexible and learner-led approach to education.
Learning is shaped around the needs of the individual, with the right balance of academic study, vocational opportunities, personal development and wellbeing support.
This includes:
Small Goups Learning
Personalised Support
Practical & Engaging Curriculum
Strong Pastoral Care
Support for Emotional Wellbeing
Preparation for Adulthood
Opportunities to Build Confidence, Independence & Employability
The school understands that progress looks different for every learner. Success is not just about qualifications. It is also about helping young people feel safe, valued, capable and ready for what comes next.
LEARNING THAT FEELS RELEVANT
Fast Forward combines core learning with practical opportunities that help students see the purpose in their education.
Alongside English, maths and personal development, learners can access vocational pathways that help them build real-world skills in a more hands-on way. This practical focus supports engagement, raises confidence and helps young people connect their learning to future opportunities.
The school’s approach is built around helping learners make progress both personally and academically, while developing the skills they need for adult life.
SUPPORTIVE, SAFE & STRUCTURED
Creating a safe and nurturing environment is central to everything Fast Forward does.
The school is committed to safeguarding, positive relationships and clear routines that help learners feel secure and supported. Staff work closely with young people, families, carers and outside professionals to make sure support is joined up and effective.
Fast Forward also places great importance on communication and partnership with parents and carers, recognising that the best outcomes happen when school and home work together.
BUILDING FUTURE SUCCESS
Preparing Young People for the Future
Fast Forward is about more than helping learners get through the school day. It is about helping them move forward.
The school supports young people to develop the confidence, independence and practical skills they need for life beyond education. Whether a learner’s next step is college, training, an apprenticeship or employment, Fast Forward aims to help them leave with a stronger sense of direction and belief in what they can achieve.
Fast Forward works in close partnership with families, carers, local authorities and other professionals to make sure every learner receives the right support at the right time.
By combining personalised education, vocational learning, SEND support and preparation for adulthood, the school provides a setting where young people can rebuild trust in education and take meaningful steps towards a brighter future.
