MASTERING PRACTICAL SKILLS
Practical Learning That Builds Skills, Confidence and Future Opportunities
Vocational learning is an important part of the curriculum at Fast Forward School. For many young people, practical and hands-on learning provides a more engaging and meaningful route into education, helping them build confidence, develop useful skills and prepare for life beyond school.
EDUCATION FOR LIFE
Learning That Feels Relevant
Vocational pathways sit alongside English, maths, personal development and preparation for adulthood. They help learners connect their education to real-life experiences, future training and possible career routes, while also developing teamwork, communication, problem solving and independence.
DISCOVER YOUR PATH
Our Vocational Pathways
Fast Forward offers a range of practical pathways designed to support different interests, strengths and ambitions. These currently include Construction, Mechanics / Motor Vehicle Studies, Hair & Beauty and Fishing Management. Each pathway is delivered in a supportive and structured way, helping learners build skills at a pace that is right for them.
Construction
The Construction pathway gives learners the chance to develop practical trade-based skills in a structured and supportive environment. It is designed for young people who enjoy hands-on work and want to build confidence through practical achievement.
Mechanics / Motor Vehicle Studies
Motor Vehicle Studies provides learners with a practical route into the automotive sector. The programme is designed to build both technical knowledge and employability skills, preparing learners for further education, apprenticeships and entry-level roles in the motor industry.
Hair & Beauty
The Hair & Beauty pathway offers learners a practical and creative route where they can build technical skills, confidence and professional standards in a salon-style setting. It is suited to young people who enjoy practical work, presentation, client-focused tasks and developing industry-related skills.
PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS
Preparation for the Future
Vocational learning at Fast Forward is about more than practical tasks. It helps young people explore future options, develop employability skills and gain confidence in their ability to move on to further education, training or employment.
As with the wider curriculum, vocational learning is tailored to the individual. Fast Forward provides a safe and supportive environment where learners can take part in practical education with the right guidance, structure and encouragement.
